Carbon Clean Direct is another HHO scam

Carbon Clean Direct is another HHO, run-your-car-on-water, hydrogen hybrid (or whatever you/they want to call it today, it is all the same thing) scam which I have been blogging about for years. Their product does not work, indeed cannot work, it is preposterous pseudo-scientific nonsense.

They claim to be able to reduce you vehicle’s fuel consumption by 25%, but where does this 25% come from? An engine in good working order will burn in excess of 99% of its fuel leaving less than 1% unburned, so even if their unit made the engine 100% efficient the gain would be less then 1%, not the 25% these jokers claim. And the 40% reduction in emissions, where do they get that figure from? It is bullshit, it cannot possibly be true, so I can only guess they just made it up.

Nowhere on their website as any proof offered, no science, no scientist, no lab, no papers, no nothing. Why? Because it does not work! It is a scam!

There is no name, address or phone number on their web site – what a funny way to conduct business. Nevertheless I can tell you they are no less than Daniel Smith and Chris Clark – 07971313822, 018448871676, chris.clark@carboncleandirect.com and daniel.smith@carboncleandirect.com – allegedly at 130 Colmore Road, Birmingham (England) which is right on the edge of Victoria Square in Birmingham city centre… so I’m a bit dubious if it is a real address.

And yet these guys have just been the main sponsor at a major conference on Green Travel & Transport for public sector employees:
    http://www.publicserviceevents.co.uk/main/overview.asp?ID=104

I hope no-one believed their claims. Daniel Smith’s presentation was laughable. It was entitled “Ice Cream and Chillies” and involved nothing more than a tedious ramble about his son, his chemistry kit and asking the question ‘what if?’. Not a single slide or any explanation of the supposed ‘technology’ involved.

I suppose he was thinking ‘What if I managed to convince a load of public sector people to fit this to their fleet vehicles – I could make a load of money!”

“What if I managed to convince a load of public sector people to fit this to their fleet vehicles – I could make a load of money!”

Search my site (that is this one!) for “Oil Drum Limited” to see pretty much just such a phenomenon, and a load more.

and yet green mech are fitting them to chippers and they are actually working? The sciense is simple. You replace petrolium with H and o2, decrease the fuel intake. Increase oxidation decrease polution, less fuel used. The proof is in the actual using. LA actualy try before they use. People pay with credit cards who give money back if it does not do as it says. So many checks

Sean, I seriously doubt if Greenmech Chippers are fitting HHO on anything… however I’m always ready to be proven wrong and I have emailed them to ask if it is true and how they are getting on with them. Your description of the “science” is not science at all, it is pseudoscience, it is nonsense, it makes no sense, it is meaningless. The proof is not in the “using”, as you say it is, it is in the science lab and as such is totally unproven.

Jon we are evaluating the product, bellow is are proposal to CCD, so we will see if they actually take it up. If the do, do you want to see the results?

To get this moving I have a proposal.
    I would suggest as follows
With the insider (in house magazine) we run the article October November, before then we fit the unite to a car and run it for a month. This would allow an evaluation period and give more weight to the article.
    How
I am willing to purchase a unite, (my part of the investment).
MDC I would request fit the unit (about an hours time for a mechanic at our depot)
CCD guarantee the unit and if no result remove the unit at no cost, restoring the vehicle to its original condition.
All of these points are important, as I would like to include all of these points in the article (showing a willingness and confidence in the product for CCD whilst minimising risk to MDC).
That the fit dated October 14th 2010 (the start of new mileage). I will keep a record during the September mileage of fuel and miles, again repeat once the unit has been fitted. This will of course allow a direct comparison in the article.
    The risk,
MDC is 1 hour mechanics time,
Myself the cost of the unit (531.25GDP) and my car,
CCD, the removal cost of a unite, plus any restoration costs (only if the unit does not deliver the published performance, or damages vehicle).
The benefits, the unite will be evaluate independently under normal working conditions before being run out to staff. MDC can show a willingness to evaluate new technology and positively or negatively run an article on the response. To CCD this give a good independent test from a known body, which can be verified.
Personally I am confident in the product and willing to put my money on it. I believe MDC can benefit from this extensively for very little outlay or risk.
